It’s campaign season, so y’all know what that means… PRESIDENTIAL BARBIES!!!
Pre-orders for the “I Can Be…President Barbie”doll began yesterday. This is the fifth re-incarnation of President Barbie, and this time she’s available in a variety of versions that aim to be more representative of all girls.
This week saw more and more politicians throwing their support behind Hillary in 2016, making Mattel’s rendition even more compelling. I think it’s rad that Barbie is President in her Barbie world, and maybe in her own way she can inspire young girls to realize they can be whatever they want to be. The doll is being released in partnership with The White House Project, a non-profit whose mission is to encourage women to seek political office.
With a woman president seeming more likely in the not-too-distant future (and it’s about time) I wish President Barbie wasn’t wearing a hot pink skirt suit, but oh well! What do y’all think of the new doll?
