I have to be honest: I’ve never been a big music video watcher. Even as a 90’s kid, I saw all the quintessential Britney and Backstreet Boys videos maybe once or twice. And once MTV started playing trashy reality shows and stopped playing actual music videos? Fuhgeddaboudit.
But sometimes a video comes along that is so surprising, so intriguing, and so completely bizarre that you have to take a step back and really truly ask yourself “What the hell did I just watch?!”
After four back-to-back viewings, I’m still not entirely sure. And with nearly three million views in just a few days, I think it’s safe to say there are many, many others who are just as baffled as I.
Norwegian brothers Bård Ylvisåker and Vegard Ylvisåker, known collectively as Ylvis, have a talk show on TVNorge, and released this video as a promotion for their upcoming season. Ylvis has created something with “The Fox” that will definitely stay with you, whether it be for the intricate cos-play-esque styling, the EDM-esque light show, the Gangnam Style-esque dance moves, or the existentialist-esque question: “What does the Fox say?”
