Yep, it’s Rush Limbaugh being distressingly offensive again. Apparently, someone called into question his judging the Miss America pageant, being as that he seems to hate women in every way, shape, and/or form, so he went on Fox News (where else?) to explain that he supports women. What?
The transcript and video from Think Progress:
[video:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ug-DKBRopZ8 425×344]CARLSON: So for those who were critics of you in judging this pageant, and saying that you haven’t been a supporter of women in the past —
LIMBAUGH: Oh, I’m a huge supporter of women. What I’m not a supporter of is liberalism. Feminism is what I oppose, and feminism has led women astray. I love women. I don’t know where all this got started. I love the women’s movement — especially when walking behind it. This idea that I don’t like women is absurd. This is Miss America. And if there’s a Mr. America out there, it’s me.
And if by “supporter” he means “abuser” and by “women” he means “pharmaceutical medications” then I think he’s somewhat correct. Note the slightly-pained look on the Gretchen Carlson’s face when he makes his “joke.” Ha ha ha, he supports women but loves a good sexist joke! That’s Mr. America for you!
I’m not sure in which universe Limbaugh exists, but I’m pretty sure “supporter of women” implies “feminist.” Maybe English is his second language? Does anyone else have a reasonable explanation for this?
Alternately, does anyone have a cute baby-animals video for us all to watch to restore some of our faith in humanity?
