Oh Karen O, how we adore thee! It’s easy to say we’ve got nothing but love for the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, they graced the cover of BUST back in ’06 and are still rocking our worlds to this day. With the release of It’s Blitz in 2009, the New York City trio presented fans with something a bit different from their previous guitar-driven garage sound; an album full of synth, glitter, and sweaty dance-all-night tracks.
In the video for “Skeletons”, we see a somewhat softer, slightly spooky side of the band: ghostly images of cemeteries, monochromatic visuals, and Victorian-era meets Elvira garb. Karen O explains, “the Yeah Yeah Yeahs wrote this song in a barn in Massachusetts in December ’07 during a snow storm. It has a very wintry feeling to it. It’s atmospheric, melancholy, and unlike any song we’ve ever written before.”
