Lifelong best friends Tara Karsian and Andrea Grano, the writers and producers of this first independent film, came up with the idea for BFFs accidentally, when Grano asked Karsian “What if you realized how in love with me you are?” This wonderful accident turned into a feature film about two friends who blur the lines of friendship and relationship.
The film follows best friends Kat (Karsian) and Sam (Grano) who pretend to be lovers to go on a weekend couples retreat. Their plans of lounging by the pool and making fun of other couples fail when the retreat finds them fixing a relationship that they did not intend on having with each other. Some classic moments range from Sam hanging off a telephone pole to Kat confessing childhood fears. These moments are heartwarming because everyone understands the feeling security and love that only comes from a best friend. The girls then wonder, “if I feel safe and loved with you then why aren’t we dating?”
Like every great friendship movie it has an amazing road trip montage, meaningful looks, and sarcastic banter. It is guaranteed to make you laugh and possibly cry as they face about a possible relationship. BFFs is an honest view of female friendship and the risks involved in taking it further.
