Feeling bloated? Perhaps you’re having abdominal pain? Or maybe you’re just peeing more frequently? Although these symptoms don’t seem like much, they could all be signs of ovarian cancer.
Ovarian cancer was believed to be a silent killer, but more often than not these run of the mill symptoms (bloating, pelvic/abdominal pain, urinary symptoms and difficulty eating or feeling full quickly) are misdiagnosed. To help women know more about the signs and symptoms of the disease, the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance has created a free app.
The app allows you to keep a symptom diary, which just like it sounds, lets you keep track of symptoms that could possibly be related to ovarian cancer. This smarty-pants app will also alert you if it thinks you should make an appointment with your doctor.
The American Cancer Society estimates that in 2011, about 21,990 new cases of ovarian cancer will be diagnosed and over 15,000 women will die of ovarian cancer in the United States. The Ovarian Cancer National Alliance hopes this app will lead to early diagnosis, which is always a good thing.
