If you’re a crafty and caring girl, this is a great project for you! Girls Love Mail is a charity that collects crafty, hand-written letters that are distributed to women recently diagnosed with breast cancer and those going through treatment. Even if you don’t consider yourself particularly artsy, kind words to these strong ladies are always appreciated. A fun idea is gathering your friends to create cards together!
Gina Mulligan founded Girls Love Mail after she won her battle with breast cancer. While she was in treatment she received many kind letters that made her understand that “a few words on paper were more than a just a keepsake,” she wrote on the website. “A hand-written letter is a gift with the ultimate power to heal.”
Currently, the charity is running the Mile of Mail 2012 Campaign, which seeks to get out 5,280 letters this year. So far, they have received more than 2,000 letters. Help them complete their goal and support women all over the world! Just think of how much more personal a letter is than a text or email. Instructions on where to send the letter, tips on what to write, and more information about the charity can be found here. Happy writing!
