Released on the heels of their second EP, Kryptonite Pussy (aka “the dirty EP”), Futuristically Speaking combines MCs Shunda K and Jwl B’s softer sides with hard-hitting club bangers. This debut full-length features production from long-time collaborators HardfeelingsUK, as well as Basement Jaxx (on the ass-flappin’ anthem “Booty Clap”), Radioclit, and Dee Kline, to name a few. I love “Leather Jacket,” a song about a dude who wears a Members Only jacket in 97-degree heat and mistakenly thinks he’s the shit. Jwl B’s delivery makes this track so genius I now pronounce it My Favorite Song of 2008. Other standouts include “Club Action,” “Party Hardy,” and “Fucked Up,” which reminds me of Kelis’ “I Hate You So Much Right Now”—dangerously angry. Combining girl-on-girl action with girl-and-God relations, Futuristically is as spiritual as it is sexually explicit. I usually frown on anything that has to do with the big G, but I will totally take some preaching if it’s coated in nasty beats.
