Book Review: People’s Pops: 55 Recipes for Ice Pops, Shave Ice, and Boozy Pops from Brooklyn’s Coolest Pop Shop

by BUST Magazine

New York City-based People’s Pops specializes in icy treats made from locally grown fruits and organic sugar. Started by friends in 2008, the business became an instant success, and looking over these 55 recipes and drool-worthy photos explains why. Divided by season, the pops and shaved ice include the regular cast of flavors as well as surprises like cucumber, elderflower, and tequila. Not a single recipe lists more than five ingredients, and the user-friendly guide encourages readers to play around with their own flavor profiles. Though there’s also nothing wrong with going traditional: the straight-up strawberry pops were easy to make and criminally delicious. The hardest part, frankly, was waiting for them to freeze.
