Okay, well, she might not be the monster, but she sure can rap “Monster.”
Jimmy Fallon hosted the kids of Netflix’s Stranger Things on his show last night, and things took a turn for the silly during a game of “Stranger Strings.” Millie Bobby Brown (Eleven), Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin), Caleb McLaughlin (Lucas), Finn Wolfhard (Mike), and Jimmy took turns reading anonymous facts about each other, and then spraying who they thought the fact was about with silly string. Secrets such as “I still sleep with a nightlight” (turns out it was Caleb) and “I once cried in the third grade when the fire alarm rang” (admitted to by the hi-larious Gaten) were shared, and Jimmy and the kids practically blasted each other into oblivion (oh, and Finn was able to sneak in a sick burn on Jimmy in the meantime). Millie, the arresting and talented actor who portrays Eleven, seemed to think that just about every fact could be traced back to Jimmy, and by two minutes into the segment, he was covered in her neon orange string.
The real highlight, however, came when Finn read the card “I can perfectly rap Nicki Minaj’s verse from ‘Monster,'” which was immediately attributed by all (and correctly so) to Millie. She proceeded to rap the infamous verse, which Minaj performed on Kanye West’s “My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.” The historic verse is quite a thing to live up to (you may remember it as that verse that everyone drunkenly tried to rap along to in 2011), both in its writing (yeah I’m in that Tonka, colour of Willy Wonka/you could be the King but watch the Queen conquer), and her epic performance. Millie performed it with sass and style — and to a cheering studio audience. Jimmy and the rest of the cast sat back as Millie dazzled with the verse, until she began raining silly string down on them, of course.
