Get ready to rave with dAKOTA rAE dUST‘s super-embellished designs.
Based in Bristol, Bec opened dAKOTA rAE dUST in 2014, ten years after graduating from a degree in surface design. She then worked in the womenswear industry for five years, designing prints and embroideries.
She says: “dAKOTA rAE dUST allows me to continue… my passion for pattern and texture in fashion. I definitely take colour inspiration from my current job at a ravewear company, where I work a lot with UV-reactive fluoro rubbers and paints!”
Bec makes incredible clutch purses and bags, coin purses and rosettes, as well as embellishing sweaters, t shirts and babygros.
Bec’s bold designs are crafted on the computer and cut by hand from bright-coloured vinyl, mixed carefully chosen vintage and unusual materials. For Bec, sustainability is all-important so her clothing items are either upcycled or repurposed from ethical brands.
She specialises in head-turning colour combos, bold designs and rich embellishments, inspired by jewels, snowflakes and tons of neon and fluoro.
A fan of the best-quality components, Bec says: “I believe that handmade should mean WELL MADE.”
She adds: “What I love best about my business is that nearly all my customer interactions are very personal. Selling at markets and on Etsy means that I often know exactly who I am making a birthday present for or where clutch will be used. Getting sent a photo of a happy customer sporting their purchase a few weeks later is always a treat!”
Catch dAKOTA rAE dUST at the Bust Christmas Craftacular, where she will be bringing “a selection of clutch purses and bags, a tree full of rosettes and a some beautifully embellished garments. . . as well as some special Christmassy goodies!”
