Ballerina Misty Copeland has lived a remarkable life. In her memoir, Life in Motion: An Unlikely Ballerina, she describes how she began ballet at age 13, attended summer programs at the San Francisco Ballet, and battled racism and body-image insecurities to join the American Ballet Theater Studio Company and become the company’s first African American soloist in the past 30 years. Not too shabby at all.
