Big Eyes, as many of you may know, is the newest Tim Burton film that is slated to premiere sometime this coming December, and in anticipation of the film, new photos of Amy Adams and Christoph Waltz have just been released. The film follows the large-eyed, harlequin doll art of Margaret Keane (Adams) that took the 60s by storm (and heavily influenced Burton) and its subsequent exploitation by her husband, Walter (Waltz).
The details surrounding the couple’s tumultuous marriage recount Walter taking credit for Margaret’s work, filled with insidious lies about how her gender would impact the success of her art. The story follows how Margaret totally upends her husband’s oppression and wrongdoings – most likely with suspenseful and creepy twists along the way!
The real Margaret is still alive and painting today, and USA Today reports that Adams met with this fearless lady many times to get her spirit and story just right.
As someone who grew up on a steady diet of Nightmare Before Christmas and Edward Scissorhands, I am definitely pumped to see this female friendly, pro-woman movie hit theaters. Excited to see Adams take the lead in this? Check out Margaret Keane’s work here and share your thoughts in the comments below!
