Instagram is a place for sharing pictures of what we love—for many of us, that means uploading endless photos of our furry companions. Social media allows anyone with a smartphone to share their beloved dog or cat with the world (and it also seems to have created a digital competition over whose pet is the cutest.) Despite the fact, however, that every individual believes that their pooch is the best, the internet doesn’t have to be dog eat dog world.
Back in 2011, human friends Ahmed El Shourbagy and Ashley Paguyo created the popular Instagram page, Dogs of Instagram, to “bring together the dogs of Instagram in an easy to find place and deliver daily doses of doggy cuteness.” For over five years, the site has published photographs of people’s pups and currently has 3.5 million followers—arguably becoming the most popular account on Instagram for dog lovers.
Now the pair has published Dogs on Instagram through Chronicle Books (who also published Cats on Instagram), a book comprised of 400 photos of their page’s most popular canines and you can have it just in time for the holiday season. If you’re not already sold on the book, take a peek at a handful of the dogs featured in the book and don’t be shy about expressing your emotions over these precious pups—squealing over the abundance of the feels is natural and it’s pretty much impossible to leave these pictures without a smile.
